Another multiple source simulation

Logged on 08/24/2009 11:57:15 PM

This simulation contains five sources, all 10 Jy. Standard procedures apply, with the usual +/- 20% gain variations.

The sky model is attached below, as is the annotation file.

Simulation and imaging

Visibilities are as usual written to the DATA column. You might be eager to try solving for the gain variations for a five-source simulation, or you might be wondering what this will teach you over a two-source simulation, but as was hinted at in SSSC20 this simulation will form the basis of an E-Jones simulation in SSSC30.

Amplitudes and phases

Note the more complex behaviour of the amplitudes and phases for the five-source sky. The plot below is shows a few short baselines (1:2, 1:3 and 1:4) as well as a longer one (1:13) nicely illustrating how the phases rotate a lot faster on the longer baseline.
